Chriscinda Henry

Research Interests: Renaissance Italy, with special focus on the intersection of secular art with other modes of cultural production (poetry, theater, music), and with leisure and festive culture; theories of bodily cultivation, aesthetic experience, and reception; and artistic exchange with Northern Europe. Other interests include the early modern art market and practices of collection and display, cultural tourism in Italy prior to the Grand Tour, the role of political allegory in Renaissance visual culture, and issues of interpictoriality and intermediality more broadly.

Research Interests: Cultural exchange in the medieval Mediterranean, in particular the circulation of Byzantine luxury objects as well as the dissemination of eastern styles, techniques, and iconographies.
