Workshop: Introduction to Python

Workshop Overview: ÌýAlthough it would be near impossible to learn all of Python in only 2-hours, the goal of this workshop is toÌýgive students a taste of the wonders of programming by learning the world's most popular programming language.Ìý
At the end of the workshop, you will be able to:
Ìý Ìý> Understand the different types of variables in Python (data types and data structures)
Ìý Ìý> Write simple scripts
Ìý Ìý> Use control flow to automate your scripts
Ìý Ìý> Understand how to load and use libraries
Prerequisites:
- Students must have basic understanding and experience of programming & computer science.
- For students with no prior knowledge of programming, we recommend watchingÌýÌýby CrashCourse andÌýÌýby freeCodeCamp on Youtube before taking this workshop.
- Install Anaconda on your computer. You can find installation instructionsÌýhere. Please contact us (cdsi.science [at] mcgill.ca) if you are having trouble with installation.
- If you attend the workshop in person, you must bring your own laptop.
Location:ÌýHYBRID. Online via Zoom, or in-person atÌýÌýroom 1104 (11th floor).
