Christopher Whitley wins this year's Peter Mendell Award
Christopher Whitley, Class of 2012, BMus/Outstanding Achievement in Violin Performance/Graduating with Distinction (Prof. Mark Fewer), has been awarded this year's Peter Mendell Award. (2,500$ plus a recital).
Given annually for outstanding achievement in performance to one string student enrolled in a full-time music performance program at one of the city's post-secondary institutions (U de M, Concordia, McGill, UQAM and the Conservatoire), the award has been won by more McGill students than any other institution.
Previous winners from Schulich include Benedicte Lauziere and Ewald Cheung.
As stated by Professor Fewer, "Chris has been a joy to teach at Schulich, and has been an inspiration to his fellow students. He will make a significant impact on the world of music, wherever his path takes him."
Christopher will be attending the San Francisco Conservatory in the fall to begin studies with Ian Swensen. He has been awarded a 25K/year scholarship from that school.
