Law student Philip Duguay publishes in the Singapore Law Review

Published: 23 March 2009

After doing a human rights internship in 2008 at the State Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) Ar-Raniry in Aceh, where he helped launch a legal aid clinic, law student Philip Duguay wrote an article on the question of women's rights in Aceh, Indonesia. His paper, which was written under the supervision of Assistant Professor Vrinda Narain, will be published in the forthcoming issue of the Singapore Law Review.

When asked why he had selected this subject, Philip revealed that “the largest social equity problem there is women's rights, so I became involved with the subject that way.”

Philip will also be presenting his paper at the 2nd Annual McGill Law Student Scholarly Paper Workshop on March 27, 2009 here at the Faculty of Law.

About Human Rights Internships

The International Human Rights Internships Program is administered by the McGill Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism. It provides students with an opportunity to apply their legal education in a concrete setting and further develop a demonstrated interest and commitment to the defence of human rights. Part of the requirement for these internships is the writing of a research paper under the supervision of a faculty member.
