Schulich Student Beavan Flanagan Nominated for the Gaudeamus Prize 2012

Beavan Flanagan, a MMus student in composition (supervisor John Rea), is one of thirteen young composers from around the world who have been nominated for the Gaudeamus Prize 2012 in the Netherlands. Selected from 300 entries, Flanagan's L'essence perd son sens - for string trio, will be performed during the International Gaudeamus Muziekweek (Music Week). At the conclusion of this event, the winner of the Gaudeamus Prize 2012 - currently set at 4,550 Euros, as a commission for a new work - will be announced.
Beavan Flanagan will be heading to Utrecht this September 2012 in order to particpate in the activities during the Gaudeamus Muziekweek, founded in 1947.
