The Faculty of Law is happy to announce the launch of its new website: the McGill Business Law Platform. Guided by Professor Peer Zumbansen, inaugural incumbent of the Professorship in Business Law, the site will act as a hub of excellence in national, international, and transnational business law.

The Platform offers McGill students and guest writers the opportunity to explore business law questions through a blog called the Business Law Meter.

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Brittany Williams, BCL/LLB’19, has taken up the role of manager, Student Affairs Office, effective 1 November 2021.

Williams has served as (admissions & recruitment) since December 2020, and has worked to broaden the Faculty of Law’s outreach efforts by showing potential applicants the expansive possibilities that come with McGill Law degrees.

McGill’s Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism (CHRLP) is currently accepting applications for a minimum 3-month clerkship at the Supreme Court of Israel in 2022-2023.

Clerks are assigned to assist one judge with tasks such as drafting legal and administrative documents, preparing case files, and researching legal issues.

General requirements

Current McGill BCL/LLB, LLM or DCL students graduating in June 2022, and recent McGill graduates from Fall 2019 onward may apply for these positions.

Doctoral student and Vanier Scholar Ermanno Napolitano has been awarded a Harvard University Solar Geoengineering Research Program (SGRP) fellowship.

Supervised by Professor Richard Janda, BCL’85, LLB’85, Napolitano’s research seeks to deepen the legal understanding of geoengineering, intended as the deliberate, large-scale manipulation of the Earth’s atmosphere to reduce global warming.

At Harvard, Ermanno Napolitano is advised by Dr Lucas Stanczyk, BCL/LLB’05, who leads a project on “The Ethical and Political Dimensions of Solar Geoengineering”.

We invite prospective graduate students interested in human rights or legal pluralism to apply for an O'Brien Fellowship. This Fellowship Program is an entrance scholarship. Applicants for this scholarship must also simultaneously submit an application for admission to one of our graduate programs by the stipulated deadline. Students who are currently enrolled in the LLM or DCL program at McGill are not eligible.

The Forum aspires to create a space for learning from the past, deliberating about the present, and building a common future together.

The CHRLP Forum aims to bring rich and plural insights on the concept of solidarity through engagement with diverse theories of change and ideas of justice.
