On November 27, the Macdonald Campus Office of Student Academic Services hosted the annual Lister Family Engaged Science Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition, an event open to master’s and doctoral students from all disciplines in the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.

In 1974, Chandra Madramootoo arrived at Macdonald Campus to pursue his BSc in Agricultural Engineering. He never left.

“I loved the program. I loved the professors. I loved my courses,” said Madramootoo. “It was giving me exactly what I wanted in life. I was fulfilling a dream.”

After also earning his MSc (1981) and his PhD (1985) at Mac, he accepted an 11thĚýhour offer from McGill for an assistant professorship, declining opportunities at other universities.

He’s known as the king of cranberries. More than anyone else, Marc Bieler (DipAgr’58, BA’64) has contributed to Quebec’s thriving industry centred on a small red fruit with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Today, at the age of 86, this McGill alumnus continues to be involved in the day-to-day operation of the family business and to give back to the community.

Macdonald Homecoming on October 26thĚýwas another success with alumni reconnecting with old friends, learning about some of the interesting research undertaken in the Faculty, meeting engaged students, attending a logger sport demonstration and taking a campus tour. Congratulations to two alumni of McGill's Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences,ĚýAnn Louise Carson, B.Sc.(Agr.)’81, andĚýOdette Menard, B.Sc.(Agr.Eng.)’83, M.Sc.’91, who were inducted to Quebec's Agricultural Hall of Fame at the organization's gala on October 26th.Ěý This year, the annual event made history as it marked the first time the Quebec Agricultural Hall of Fame has welcomed two women in the same induction year.

In partnership with the Maxi grocery store in Baie d’Urfé, we are pleased to announce a grocery store shuttle bus that will run Tuesday evenings beginning November 5th until further notice.
The bus has a capacity of 37 passengers and will pick up students at the shuttle bus stop outside of the Centennial Centre.

Service will include 2 round trips between Macdonald Campus and Maxi Baie d’Urfé. Seats will be available on a first-come-first-served basis.

In April 2024, four McGill University students from the Macdonald Campus' Farm Management and Technology (FMT) program participated in the 2024 North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge (NAIDC). Beatrice Neveu, Connor Velthuis, David Kolton Crack, Jason McOuat and their coach, McGill Faculty Lecturer Mathieu Leduc, traveled to California for this three-day event to sharpen their dairy and business skills while networking with teams from across North America.

Adelina Lameiras and David Wees are the latest winners of the Dean of Students Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Academic Advising.

Adelina Lameiras, Student Affairs Administrator at the Schulich School of Music, was recognized in the Administrative Staff category.

David Wees, a Faculty Lecturer and Associate Director of the Farm Management and Technology Program in the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, won in the Academic Staff category.
