Silvana Travaglini (BCom’88; GCPA'89) is set to take over as Senior Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of pressure-treated wood provider Stella-Jones Inc. With a proven record of driving strategic change, Travaglini will manage Stella-Jones’s financial operations and provide leadership in business planning, budgeting, accounting, and investor relations.

McGill alumnus William Shatner (BCom’52) has been inducted into the Order of Canada, in recognition of his 60-year acting career and philanthropic work. Presented by Governor General Julie Payette, the Order of Canada is one of the nation’s highest civilian honours.

Alumnus uses sustainability education to grow urban agriculture business
Inspired by his studies in Entrepreneurship and Managing for Sustainability, Thibault Sorret (BCom’18) has accepted a management role at a Montreal-based urban agriculture company. Lufa Farms, co-founded by alumna Lauren Rathmell, uses hydroponics to grow pesticide-free vegetables, fruits, and other plants for 17,000 local customers.

BCom student retires from competitive snowboarding
After sustaining a series of injuries, 21-year-old BCom student Océane Fillion has officially retired from competitive snowboarding. While she vows to hit the slopes as often as she can, the former Slopestyle and Big Air champion will focus on earning a business degree at McGill University and acting as a coordinator for the Quebec Snowboard Association.
