RENATO ANTUNES dos SANTOS, M.D., Ph.D., is a Psychiatry at the Inuulistivik Health Centre, Nunavik, and the Douglas Mental Health University Institute, and an Assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry. Between 2014 and 2015, he was a Visiting Scholar at this Institute and, in 2023, became an Associate Member of the Institute of Health Sciences Education. He obtained his Ph.D. in Health Sciences Education at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, presenting international studies concerning Residency Program Evaluation. After that, Renato was appointed Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology at the University of Brasilia (UnB) and nominated Director of Education and Research at the UnB University Hospital.
In 2018, Dr. Antunes was invited to join a research group for postdoctoral studies concerning the mental health and quality of life of the Indigenous populations in the Department of Psychiatry, McGill University. In 2020, he joined the Department of Psychiatry of the University of Toronto, becoming an Assistant Professor practicing and teaching psychiatry at the Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care, returning to McGill as an Assistant Professor in 2022.
