McGill’s 2024Indigenous Studies and Community Engagement Initiative(ISCEI) Writer in Residence is Billy-Ray Belcourt, PhD, from the Driftpile Cree Nation in northern Alberta. His five books encompass poetry, memoir, and fiction, and explore topics such as decolonial love, grief, intimacy, and queer sexuality.
Graduate students in Education and Science earn Rathlyn Fellowships
Karen Martin and Dane Malenfant have been named Rathlyn Fellowship recipients for the 2023-24 year. This fellowship of $12,500 is awarded yearly by the Indigenous Studies Program to support Indigenous graduate students in their pursuit of excellence in research.

The Indigenous Mentorship and Paid Research Experience for Summer Students (IMPRESS) program is seeking project hosts for the 2024 cohort of undergraduate participants.
The program awards undergraduate students $5,000 for their participation, alongside social events, professional development workshops and cultural activities within a 15-hour weekly commitment.

New Rathlyn Fellowship Available for Indigenous M.A. and PhD Students
Thanks to the generosity of Roger Warren, two fellowships for $12,500 are being offered to Indigenous students pursuing a MA or Doctoral thesis at McGill University, focusing in some aspect on the study of Indigenous Canada.
