OverDrive to retire legacy app for Fire tablets in January 2025
As part of their transition to the Libby app, OverDrive are retiring their legacy OverDrive app for Fire tablets on January 31, 2025.
After this date, the legacy OverDrive app sunset will be complete on all platforms. Users with Fire tablets running Android 9 or higher can install the Libby app instead.

Unlocking AI in Education: GenAI Quickstart Micromodules for Faculty Now Available
McGill University Libraries, in collaboration with Concordia Library and eConcordia are pleased to announce the launch of GenAI Quickstart: Foundations for Faculty. This series of nine short micromodules (approximately 10 minutes each) introduces the basics of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), exploring its potential uses in teaching, learning, research, and everyday tasks.

Temporary closure of Frank Dawson Adams campus-facing entrance affecting access to Schulich Library

Due to impact from the façade restoration underway on the Frank Dawson Adams Building (FDA), the campus facing entrance to the building will be closed on October 15 and October 16, 2024, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM both days, affecting access to the Schulich Library of Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Engineering.
All of the Libraries' services & most locations closed September 2 (Labour Day)

Please note that all libraries except for the Humanities and Social Sciences Library (McLennan-Redpath Complex) will be closed on Monday, September 2nd, Labour Day.
The Humanities and Social Sciences Library will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. for study only. No services will be offered.

Access to McGill Libraries on Lower Campus as of Monday, August 5
As outlined in the most recent update by the McGill University Emergency Operations Centre, as of Monday, August 5, Libraries in the lower campus area (and all libraries within the system) will open as per their regular operating hours and will be accessible without the need of a McGill ID card.

Facilities Management and Ancillary Services is planning an electrical shutdown on the morning of Tuesday, August 6, which will affect the McLennan-Redpath Complex and Islamic Studies Libraries BEFORE the locations open for the day.

As outlined in the most recent update by the McGill University Emergency Operations Centre, from Saturday, July 27 to Sunday, August 4, Libraries in the lower campus area will open as per their regular operating hours, but will close no later than 5:30 p.m. on the weekend and 7:00 p.m. on weekdays.
