Colombo interlibrary loan database unavailable Friday, June 13, 5:00pm until midnight Saturday June 14
The Colombo interlibrary loan database will be unavailable to McGill users and staff from 5:00pm on Friday, June 13, 2014 until the end of the day on Saturday, June 14, 2014.
As a result, McGill users will not be able to submit interlibrary loan requests during this period.
Off-campus access, interlibrary loan, and authentication services unavailable Saturday, June 14, 10:00pm to 10:30pm
This coming Saturday, June 14, starting at 10:00 PM, McGill IT will be carrying out scheduled maintenance on central authentication systems. As a result, you will not be able to login to most Library services for a 5-minute period of time within the maintenance window. This includes EZproxy (off-campus access to e-resources), Colombo (interlibrary loan), and several other online services.

Changes to e-resource access: Classic Catalogue, eResearch Gateway, Google Scholar
Today (June 9) we implemented a number of changes that affect how the Library’s e-resources are accessed by the McGill Community.
E-resources to be removed from the Classic Catalogue on June 9
As mentioned previously, we will be removing electronic resources from the Classic Catalogue.
New Library Service: Journal Article/Book Chapter Scanning Service
The McGill Library is pleased to announce the inauguration of a new service. Effective May 29, 2014, McGill students, faculty and staff may request scanned copies of journal articles or book chapters from the print collection of the McGill Library to be sent to their McGill email address.

eResearch Gateway to be retired
Updated May 28: The retirement of the eresearch gateway has been moved back to June 9.
On Monday, June 9, 2014 the eResearch Gateway will be taken off-line.
The eResearch Gateway provides alternate ways of searching for articles, databases, and other electronic resources. This functionality is now provided for the most part by WorldCat and the Library's subject guides.
All Library branches closed for Journée nationale des patriotes
Please note that all Library branches will be closed on Monday, May 19, 2014 for a statutory holiday (Journée nationale des patriotes).
Some Islamic Studies Library collections unavailable until July 15
From May 20 to July 15, Morrice Hall , which houses the Islamic Studies Library, will be undergoing an accessibility project which includes renovating the third floor washrooms. In order to do so, contractors need to open the ceiling on the second floor of the library which requires the removal of three shelving units. The materials from these shelves were packed, and the shelves were removed on Tuesday, May 13. Items in the call number range BP193.3 M3 1983 to DR438.3 M57 1990 will be unavailable until July 15, 2014.

Library update on the Heartbleed bug
You may have recently heard of a computer security vulnerability called Heartbleed that is affecting computer networks around the world. We wanted to provide you with an update on how this vulnerability affects the Library’s services.
We have reviewed the Library's servers and insured that the version of the OpenSSL running is secure and not vulnerable to the Heartbleed bug.
