Life Sciences Library redesign and HVAC work
Last spring, consultations were conducted by our Faculty and McGill Library Services on the future of the Life Sciences Library. Students, residents, faculty and staff from our health sciences community were invited to provide initial input on how the Life Sciences Library space could be reconfigured based on current and future needs.
Library hours during Thanksgiving weekend
Most Library branches will be closed on Monday, October 14 (Thanksgiving Day). Many Library branches will be open with modified hours for study over the weekend, with some offering services. Please visit the individual branch pages on the Library website for details regarding opening and service hours.
The Humanities and Social Sciences Library, located in the McLennan-Redpath Library Complex, will be open for study on Monday, October 14 from 8am to midnight. Services will be closed.
PGSS Family Collection
Through the PGSS Library Improvement Fund, the Post-Graduate Students’ Society of McGill University in collaboration with the PGSS Family Care Caucus and the McGill Library created the PGSS Family Care Collection in order to assist students who bring their children to various branch libraries. Available at Library Service desks, the collection includes a small chair, crayons, colouring sheets and both fiction and nonfiction works suggested by PGSS for a variety of age groups.

How did people use print to structure and mediate their social relationships in Europe between 1700 and 1900? This exhibition offers some answers by presenting objects that document a range of interpersonal practices in the field of botany.

New! McGill Library's Chapbook Collection
The Rare Books and Special Collections Library at McGill University contains over nine hundred British and American chapbooks published in the 18th and 19th centuries. Through a generous donation from the Harold Crabtree Foundation, digital facsimiles have been prepared and a virtual collection created.
The McGill Library’s Chapbook Collection is organized by subject categories which can be browsed. The entire work can be read in PDF format or online, using the page turning functionality of the Internet Archive.
Renovations Update
Light retro fit motion sensors are currently being installed on the main floor of the McLennan Library Building in the Humanities and Social Sciences Library. All other floors of the McLennan Library Building have been completed. Once work has been completed on the main floor of McLennan, the light retro fit motion sensors will be installed in the Redpath Library Building.

McGill Library's Colombo Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Service Unavailable June 14 to 16 at 9 a.m.
The Colombo Interlibrary Loan (ILL) database system will be unavailable to McGill users and library personnel from Friday June 14 to Sunday June 16 at 9:00 AM due to a technical upgrade to a new version of the software.
It is expected that access to the Colombo ILL service will resume at 9:00 AM on Sunday June 16, 2013.
The McGill Library regrets any inconvenience this may cause.
Changes to affiliated hospital access to McGill e-resources, starting July 1, 2013
Changes as of July 1, 2013As of July 1st, 2013, access to McGill electronic databases, e-journals and other e-resources has changed at McGill affiliated hospital sites in order to comply with the McGill University Library's licensing agreements.

Dr. Colleen Cook, Trenholme Dean of Libraries, is delighted to announce that Maya Kucij and Lucy Frenette are the recipients of the 2013 Library Excellence Awards. The Library Excellence Awards officially honour the extraordinary service, important efforts and achievements of staff members. “These awards are near and dear to my heart because candidates for the award are brought forward by colleagues,” says Cook. “Every year the list of nominees is outstanding and this year was no exception.
