After your exchange term

Welcome back! You’ve travelled the world, broadened your horizons and globalized your education. After taking care of the few vital academic arrangements upon your return, wrap up your exchange experience by sharing your experience and get involved in the McGill Abroad community!

Academic arrangements once back at McGill

  • If you are a non-graduating student, you are expected to return to McGill after your exchange.
  • If you have any remaining courses that need to be approved for transfer credits, now’s the time to do it! Consult your Faculty’s transfer credit policy and your Faculty Advisor if necessary.

Transfer credits will appear on your unofficial transcript in Minerva once McGill receives your official transcript from your host university and transfer credits are approved by your faculty. Your McGill transcript for the exchange term(s) will indicate that you were away. The grades received from your host university will not display on your McGill transcript and will not be included in your GPA calculation.

Share your experience

Already missing your time abroad? There are a few ways to pay your exchange forward and encourage other students to globalize their education:

Submit an Exchange Experience Report

What did you love about your exchange and host university? What would you have done differently? What do you wish you had known? You’ve been there, lived that, and have so much to share!

Take a moment to reminisce on your time abroad and complete an Exchange Experience Report. Sharing your experience will help other McGill students make informed exchange choices, and will help McGill Abroad improve its exchange program offerings. This is mandatory for all students who have completed an exchange.
