During your exchange
While you’re busy exploring and learning abroad, here are a few things that will help you ensure a smooth transition back to McGill:
Keep all course materials
Graded exams, essays, evaluation rubrics, syllabi, and reading lists may be needed by your McGill Faculty Advisor to approve your courses for transfer credit.
Regularly check your McGill email
That’s how we stay in touch! Keep an eye out for important notices and information about McGill course registration, fees, graduation, and more. In case of an emergency, McGill will contact you via your McGill email so be sure to check it regularly.Â
Register for McGill courses for the upcoming term (if applicable)
If you expect to return to McGill after your exchange program, be sure to register for your McGill courses by applicable deadlines to avoid late registration fees.
Apply to graduate (if applicable)
If you are a graduating student, you might have to apply for graduation on Minerva while on exchange. Failure to do so may jeopardize or postpone your graduation!
Arrange to have your transcript sent to McGill
Your transcript is an essential part of the credit transfer process and it is your responsibility to ensure that there are no holds on your records at the host university so that your transcript may be released to McGill.
Transcripts from host universities (in paper or electronic format) become the property of McGill and will not be returned to you or forwarded to another institution. If you want a copy for your own records, make sure to request it before leaving.
