Areas of expertise:
We are interested in understanding the general mechanisms by which neurons process sensory information. Although crucial for the development of improved diagnostic and treatment for patients suffering from sensory deficiencies (e.g. hearing loss), these mechanisms are largely unknown to this day. To achieve this goal, we use a variety of experimental and theoretical techniques ranging from: animal behavior, electrophysiology both in slice and in awake behaving animals, pharmacology, and modeling. Lab members come from a wide range of backgrounds, allowing for the sharing of ideas through discussions in weekly lab meetings.
