The McGill Book Fair and Alumni Volunteering

A pile of books
Every year in autumn, the McGill Book Fair takes place in the Redpath Hall, and is organized entirely by dedicated volunteers. Launched in 1971 by the Women’s Alumnae Association and the Women’s Associates of McGill, the McGill Book Fair has raised close to $2 million to support student awards. Each year volunteers and student employees sell tens of thousands of donated books, LPs, CDs, DVDs in both English and French, with topics ranging from rare and old material to contemporary fiction. Since 2009-10 all of the Book Fair proceeds have been directed to our need-based bursary program, which allows our office to provide much needed financial support to full time degree students in need. For more information about the McGill Book Fair and how to donate books, visit their website.
