Overview

Graduate Faculty Music Courses : This colloquium nurtures a collaborative environment for musicians to share and critique artistic practices and recent developments in their disciplines. By developing critical thinking skills and exploring different models for exploring, renewing and sharing artistic practices, it provides a framework for students to develop long-term projects and interests that will drive their own individual careers. Will include preparation for comprehensives, guided preparation of thesis projects (lecture-recitals, paper, etc.), and development of leadership and networking tools: grant writing skills, presentation skills, inter-disciplinary and international collaborations (e.g., European artistic research centres, etc.).

  • Students must register for both MUGS 710D1 and MUGS 710D2

  • No credit will be given for this course unless both MUGS 710D1 and MUGS 710D2 are successfully completed in consecutive terms

  • Ratio of colloquium hours and independent study hours may vary for each student, and from week to week, totaling 3 hours per week.
