Dr. Sadeghi presently serves as the Chairman in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at McGill. He is also the Chief of the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the MUHC, and Director of McGill Head and Neck Cancer Program.Â
Dr. Sadeghi graduated from McGill Medicine in 1991. He completed his residency at McGill followed by a research fellowship. He then completed a fellowship training in Head and Neck Oncology Surgery at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Following his early career at McGill, he moved to the George Washington University in Washington, DC, where he served as Professor of Surgery and Director of Head and Neck Surgery. In 2017, he returned to McGill to lead the department.Â
Dr.Sadeghi’s research focuses on head and neck cancer and in particular on development of novel therapeutic strategies for oral and throat cancer. I focus on harnessing advances in systemic therapies and minimally invasive robotic surgery to develop novel combinations allowing effective cancer control and minimizing chronic therapy-related toxicity. Through adaptive clinical trials starting with systemic therapy, I am investigating a personalized adaptive approach for surgical treatment of oral and throat cancer. I am investigating molecular determinants of cancer response to chemotherapy to help design personalized treatment with a focus on cancer cure while preserving quality of life and functional outcome after cancer treatment.Â
