Kindergarten and Elementary Education


Overview

Do you have a passion for teaching and mentorship? Do you like working with children? If so, you may be the perfect fit for the B.Ed in Kindergarten and Elementary Education. This four-year program will allow you to gain your certification to teach children between the ages of 5 and 12 years (kindergarten and elementary school). The program consists of academic and professional courses, including studies in pedagogy and educational foundations.

Each year of the program provides a student-teaching field experience practicum, allowing you to explore classroom teaching opportunities throughout your studies. You will graduate with both the theoretical and practical experience necessary to thrive in your future career.


Careers

An undergraduate degree in Kindergarten/Elementary Education can lead you to a wide range of career options. Many graduates choose to work in occupations that focus on education, community programming, educational technology, curriculum development, and administration. Students in this program are supported by course instructors, advisors, and administrators in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) as well as the Office of Internships and Student Affairs (ISA). In addition to being a part of a department that fosters a sense of community and mentorship, students also can benefit from the resources and events organized by the Education Undergraduate Student Society (EdUS).
