Overview
Do you have a strong interest in both physiology and mathematics? Do you wish to pursue careers in the biological or biomedical sciences? If so, this specialized, interdisciplinary program may be right for you.
The Physiology and Mathematics Major allows you to explore both fields in some depth, bringing new perspectives to the study of Physiology - the study of the functions of living organisms. Physiologists investigate everything from individual molecules' interactions to the way specific organs work within the human body. Understanding cell and system physiology helps us discover new ways of preventing and curing disease, and Mathematics can provide insight into these physiological questions. Upon graduation, you will be uniquely positioned to solve some of the most complex questions existing at the intersections of these two rich disciplines.
Careers
Upon graduation from this program, you will be well positioned to pursue a career in a variety of fields related to physiology, mathematics, or a combination of the two. Physiology will prepare you for work in academic research or a variety of careers in areas like the pharmaceutical industry and health care. A background in mathematics is increasingly valuable, with our economies relying greatly on data analysis and problem-solving abilities. You may also wish to pursue graduate studies in the field or others.
