The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) has selected as the 28th recipient of the . This award, established in 1995, recognizes outstanding contributions to research by a woman or female-identifying mathematician working in Canada.

Although approaching professors to discuss research opportunities might seem daunting for undergraduate students, there鈥檚 an ingredient for success: soup!

Congratulations to聽Professor Christian Genest聽on being聽awarded the聽2023 CRM-Fields-PIMS Prize!聽The CRM-Fields-PIMS prize is the premier Canadian award for research achievements in the mathematical sciences.

McGill undergraduates have a unique opportunity to expand their climate science literacy and acquire tools for taking action to reduce the impacts of the unfolding climate crisis.
Registration is now open to students in every program for FSCI 198: Climate Crisis and Climate Actions, a new undergraduate course featuring a team of multi-disciplinary instructors who will present diverse perspectives on the scientific and social dimensions of climate change.

The Faculty of Science鈥檚 new Computational and Data Systems Initiative will help researchers unlock the power of data-intensive research methods
If you follow science news, you will almost certainly have encountered the term 鈥榤odelling鈥. From understanding climate change, to predicting the course of a pandemic, to developing the pharmaceuticals to fight one, scientists seem to have a 鈥榤odel鈥 for everything. But have you ever wondered just what the term means and how scientists go about creating models?

, McGill鈥檚 Climate Change Artist-in-Residence, will curate the Faculty of Science鈥檚 Bicentennial Science/Art Exposition, billed as a 鈥渃elebration of science in all its forms鈥.
The art show organizers are calling on all members of the McGill community to submit works in any medium, expressing what science means to them.
The deadline for submissions is October 31, 2021.
