All prospective students are encouraged to apply for external funding. Having applied or having secured external funding for your degree may give you a better chance of being admitted to your program of choice.
When do I apply for external funding?
External funding application deadlines often precede McGill admissions deadlines. Funding opportunities should be explored as soon as you make the decision to pursue graduate studies. Contact your prospective graduate program if you need support for funding applications.
Which award is right for me?
Visit Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies’ student funding opportunities page for a selection of external awards for prospective and current McGill students.
Some opportunities that you should consider as a prospective student are:
- McCall MacBain Scholarships for master’s studies
- Federal funding agencies (CGS-M and CGS-D for Canadian applicants)
- Sponsorship agreements and External DFWs for International students
- Provincial funding agencies (i.e. FRQNT, FRQSC, FRQS)
- Speak with your graduate program office for more opportunities!
