SHANE NEILSON is poet, critic, and assistant clinical professor of family medicine at the Waterloo Regional Campus of McMaster University. In early 2022, he co-authored Poetry in the Clinic: Towards a Lyrical Medicine (Routledge). You May Not Take the Sad and Angry Consolations, a book of poems considering the role of shame in ableist systems is forthcoming from Goose Lane Editions later in the year. In 2019 he was awarded the Governor-General's Gold Medal for his dissertation work at McMaster in the English Department and in 2018 he received SSHRC's "Talent" Award.
