Working at McGill
McGill Work Study
Many SIS students have found work placements through the Work Study program run by the McGill Scholarship & Student Aid Office. The program offers eligible students聽the opportunity to apply for library, archival, clerical, research, technical, and other Work Study-related job postings on the McGill campus.
Please read eligibility criteria carefully: to be considered for the program, students must demonstrate that they have applied for and will be receiving the maximum government aid for which they are eligible. All questions regarding the program or eligibility should be addressed directly to the Work Study program.

TA Positions in Other Departments
SIS students interested in Teaching Assistant (TA) positions in other McGill departments should consult the myFuture database through McGill's Career Planning Services (CaPS). Most聽university TA positions are posted on myFuture, but some may be listed on department websites.
Exam Invigilation
During exam periods in December and April, McGill hires graduate students to supervise exams.

SIS Job List
Students are advised to subscribe to the SIS-JOBS list. This moderated employment list primarily contains off-campus postings. Summer positions are often posted in late winter/early spring of each year.

The Young Canada Works program offers summer jobs and internships for applicants meeting certain eligibility criteria. The聽Young Canada Works in Heritage Organizations program may be of particular interest to SIS students.

The McGill Internship Offices Network offers many resources for finding internships, including a聽database of potential internship opportunities.
The Faculty of Arts Internship Office聽primarily serves Arts undergraduates, but their聽handbook of Montreal internship and volunteer sites聽includes libraries, archives, and other cultural organizations which may be of interest to SIS students.
聽offers聽research-related internships with companies, government and academia, including a special post-PhD program. More information is also available on the McGill Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies Mitacs page.
Volunteering
SIS students have found information-related volunteer positions in settings such as hospitals and health centres, museums, community archives, community libraries, and cultural centres. Don't hesitate to ask your fellow students and contact organizations directly to learn about opportunities.
