Who can apply
You can apply to add a second major (music or non-music) to your program of study if:
- You have completed at least one year of full-time studies in a B.Mus. program here at McGill University.
- You are in good academic standing (CGPA of 3.00 or higher)
You can apply to add a second degree (music or non-music) to your program of study if:
- You have completed at least two years of full-time studies in a B.Mus. program here at McGill University
- You are in good academic standing (CGPA of 3.00 or higher).
How we assess your application
Some programs have limited enrolment. In deciding who we admit, we look at:
- Your cumulative grade point average (CGPA) from your studies at McGill University.
- Whether you have completed the prerequisites for the second program to which you are applying.
Length of double major/degree programs
- Double majors normally take 4 to 5 years. You will generally complete 24 to 36 additional credits.
- Double degrees normally take 5 to 6 years. You will complete at least 60 additional credits.
Program combinations
Students must complete at least one year of full-time studies at McGill and have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 before requesting a second program to be added.

- B.Mus. + 2nd Music major (for example, B.Mus. Performance + Composition)
