Students not living in residences
Location
For students paying the term rate the location of the parking is available at the McIntyre Garage only. Please note the information below:
McIntyre garage information and map
- Accessing the garage: The garage entrance is accessed via the interconnecting lane between Peel and Promenade Sir William Osler (Drummond above Dr. Penfield).
- Capacity: approximately 410Ìýspaces over 7 levels (there are no elevators between levels).
- Opening hours: Permit holders may enter to park between 6am and 10pm on weekdays. They may exit at any time. These hours will be extended in the future, as circumstances change.
- Maximum height: 6'6 (2m) for Levels M-5; 6'2 (1m80) for levels 6-7.
- Electric vehicle (EV) charge stations: 16 EV stations are located on levels 3, 5 and 7 only. We are presently offering free EV charging to McGill students and employees for a limited time. To take advantage of this offer, you must be aÌýÌýmember. When emailing your parking permit application form,Ìýin the body of the email, you must indicate either the FLO membershipÌýnumber on your cardÌýOR theÌýFLO mobile app number that starts with "MA", found in the account section ofÌýthe app. You can for a membership on the .
- Pedestrian access: The pedestrian exit doors in the garage are accessible on weekdays only, as follows:
- Elevator vestibule for the Life Sciences Complex (level M): 7am to 6pm
- Stewart Biology (level 3): 7am to 6pm
- Faculty of Law (levels 5 and 7): 8am to 6pm
It may be possible for garage users with disabilities to obtain silent hoursÌýaccess to the doors indicated above by putting aÌýrequest in the body of the email when sending in the application form.
Garage users may enter and exit the garage via the pedestrian door on Level M, located near the garage exit door. A McGill ID card is required to use this door outside of the hours of 7am to 6pm on weekdays.
Rates
Parking for the McIntyre is being sold by term only. The rate is $624 for 4 months and can be paid as one installment or in two installments of $312. Please include a $40 deposit fee (for RFID TAG) with total payment or in first installment. Term rates follow the school semester.
- For the Fall term the parking period is from September 1st to December 31st. For students paying one installment, payment is made at the end of August. For students paying 2 installments, the first installment is at the end of August and the second is at the end of October.
- For the Winter term the parking period is from January 1st to April 30th. For students paying one installment, payment is made at the end of December. For students paying 2 installments, the first installment is at the end of December and the second is at the end of February.
Eligibility
The number of spaces on the downtown campus is limited. To be eligible to purchase a parking permit, you must live at least 2km away from the metro station closest to your home OR you must have at least one child under the age of 5 registered in a daycare centre.
How to purchase a permit
To apply for a parking permit, please fill out the eligibility form. Parking services will contact you to confirm approval within 5 business days. Once approved, permits can be purchased in person at the Parking & Transportation Services office, located at 1010 Sherbrooke, suite 525 (5th floor). The office hours are weekdays from 9am-12pm & 1pm-4pm and it is closed on weekends and statutory holidays.
What you need to bring to the office:
- Payment. Payment can be made by cheque (to the order of McGill University), debit or credit card.
- if you did not provide it through email. You may display this on an electronic device or show a paper copy.Ìý
- Proof of address. Accepted proof of address includes a copy of a utilities bill, cellular phone or internet bill, or driver’s license.
- Student application form if not provided by email (optional) You may fill out and print this form ahead of time and bring it with you to the office or you may fill out the form at the office. If you plan to fill it out at the office, please ensure you have the plate number of your vehicle(s).
Students living in residences

Only students residing in a downtown campus undergraduate residence may purchase permits for the outdoor lots of the Upper Residences located near Gardner Hall and McConnell Hall.
Location
The Upper Residences is the only location available to students residing in a downtown campus undergraduate residence.
Upper Residences lot information and map
- Accessing the lot: The lot is accessed at the top of University Street. The parking spaces are located on either side of McConnell Hall (3905 University) and beside Gardner Hall (3925 University).
- Capacity: approximately 42Ìýoutdoor spaces.
- Opening hours: Permit holders may enter and exit the area 24 hours a day, 7 days a week without restrictions.

Rates
Permits for the Upper Residences can be purchased per calendar month, weekly or in combination to a maximum of 3 months at a time. The rates are $192.25 monthly or $52.00 weekly.
How to purchase a permit

- Student application form (optional). You may fill out and print this form ahead of time and bring it with you to the office or you may fill out the form at the office. If you plan to fill it out at the office, please ensure you have the plate number of your vehicle(s).
Students with disabilities
Students who have a disability, medical condition, or temporary injury and require proximity parking may be able to obtain a permit or day passes for parking areas near the buildings they need to access. The request must be made to the Student Accessibility & Achievement office.
The purchase of day passes will be limited to 30 at a time within a 2-month period and they will not be sold within 30 days of the expiry date of the authorization period, unless an exception is made by the manager of Parking & Transportation Services. Should more than 12 day passes per month be required, a temporary permit should be considered as, with the exception of an All Areas pass, it will cost less.
